10-question FAQ on Campus Digital Twins
1. What is a digital twin campus? A digital twin campus is a graphically created, 3D version of campus buildings that is faithful to the size, scale and look of the real thing. The VictoryXR version will include both exteriors and interiors and – for the recruitment site – can include a conversational AI tour guide at no additional cost.
2. How do students get onto a digital twin campus? Students access the 3D digital twin campus either through a virtual reality headset, a personal computer or a Chrome/Safari browser.
3. How is a digital twin campus used for student recruitment? Universities and colleges provide free access to the campus through an Internet browser so that students may roam the campus, experience it and have a two-way conversation with a tour guide AI avatar. 4. How does the AI tour guide know what to say? The AI tour guide is able to draw from both proprietary information which is given primacy, as well as the large language AI model, usually OpenAi.
5. How do we integrate simulators onto a digital twin campus? Many schools will include a simulator with the campus. VictoryXR has existing simulators, like chemistry labs, biology, logistics, fire safety, CSI and much more. But some universities pay to have custom simulators built and added to their campus. The best part is that the simulator is available via a PC or VR headset.
6. How do we get free Meta Quest headsets and VictoryXR licenses? Between now and the end of the January (1-31-2025) VictoryXR will throw in 10 Quest 3S VR headsets and 10 VictoryXR licenses at no charge when the school purchases a full digital twin. For a half digital twin, VictoryXR will provide 5 headsets and 5 licenses. PLEASE NOTE: this is limited to the first ten universities who sign an agreement which is our capacity in the first quarter of 2025.
7. What is the cost of a campus digital twin? A full digital twin campus includes the exterior of 5-7 campus buildings and the interior of two. Of course, there are some caveats and provisos so that the project does not spiral out of control, but as you can see from the examples, it is a recreation that is true-to-form. The cost of this is $50,000 USD. Sometimes a school would rather take a smaller step forward and do a single building and grounds or perhaps an athletic facility. The cost of this can vary, but to qualify for the free headsets, a minimum of a $25,000 spend is required.
8. How much experience does VictoryXR have building campus digital twins? VictoryXR is the world’s leader in building and deploying campus digital twins. Over 150 colleges and universities utilize VictoryXR higher education licenses and close to fifty have a campus digital twin. VictoryXR is the global leader in this space.
9. Is the digital twin built using a scan of the buildings? In fact, VictoryXR developers will utilize campus photos, videos and the precision of Google Earth to model the campus. We do not use scans and the campus is fully immersive. Artists will build your campus with the assistance of coders.
10. How long does it take to build the campus and deploy it? Once we receive the photos and videos, the time between that beginning and a beta of the campus is usually 6-8 weeks. If our workload gets full, this time period may be extended. Usually, after viewing the beta, the school asks for a handful of edits. These edits typically require 2-3 weeks.
