Trump Administration Takes Virtual Reality Curriculum for a Test Drive

Betsy DeVos, President Trump’s Secretary of Education, used her tour of of a charter school in Indianapolis to try science curriculum in virtual reality on Friday.

The virtual reality curriculum is based on Next Gen Science Standards and outputted to the Oculus Rift VR system. VictoryXR, the developer of the high-tech curriculum, launched nationally last month.

DeVos was on her ‘Rethink School‘ tour last week and Hope Academy was a perfect stop since it’s students are recovering from drug and alcohol addictions.

Rachelle Gardner, the COO of Hope Academy, explained that the immersive nature of virtual reality helps students at her school focus on what they need to learn. After DeVos had taken in the full scope of the Hope program she said the school is “a great example of how a school can meet the needs of specific students.”
