AI Enhanced Textbooks Rollout in Partnership Between VictoryXR and Kendall Hunt
Kendall Hunt Publishing (kendallhunt.com), a leading U.S. textbook publisher, will integrate personalized AI tutors onto textbook pages using newly released technology from VictoryXR (VictoryXR.com).
“AI is changing the way students learn and we are starting with personalized tutors embedded onto the pages of textbooks,” said Chad Chandlee, president of Kendall Hunt.
The conversational AI tutor helps students learn in three key ways: explaining a passage, summarizing a page and reading a passage in the language of their choice.
Steve Grubbs, VictoryXR CEO, explained the value of the new technology: “Very few students understand everything they read in a textbook but with a 24/7 conversational AI tutor, everything changes.”
The conversational AI tutor interacts through a standard two-way conversation or by highlighting text and asking for help. Even more, the tool helps students who are not proficient in English receive instruction in their native language.
“Whether a student speaks Hindi, Mandarin, Spanish or even Romanian, the AI tutor natively speaks and teaches in each language,” said Grubbs. “This is transformative for students who are learning English in American schools, but may not be proficient yet. In minutes, they can have a translator embedded into their textbook.”
The VictoryXR AI textbook tutor also gives publishers the option to embed enriched 3D spatial learning onto the pages. This can include simulated two-way conversations with Albert Einstein, or even a therapist for a class in counseling and psychology. Kendall Hunt is expected to roll out the AI assistant this fall in select textbooks with key professors.
