Assumption High School & VictoryVR Roll Out First Ever STEM Career Virtual Reality Tool
Davenport, Iowa—Career exploration is about to undergo a dramatic transformation thanks to the development of a free virtual reality app from Assumption High School and VictoryXR. Using cutting edge virtual reality technology, students from across the United States will be be able to meet and visit science and technology professionals on their worksite.
Time: 1:30pm on Tuesday, May 23rd,
Location: Assumption High School, 1020 West Central Park Avenue, Davenport, Iowa
The news event will demonstrate the career exploration through virtual reality on both the desktop Oculus Rift and phone-based virtual reality.
It will also demonstrate how any career-minded student in the country can easily download the STEM career exploration tool and begin virtually visiting worksites across the United States.
Working in partnership with Assumption High School and through funding provided by a STEM Best grant from the State of Iowa and private contributions, VictoryXR developed this tool by traveling the United States and interviewing experts in both traditional and non-traditional STEM careers. While professions such as industrial engineer stand out as a typical STEM career, students may not think of farmers and lawyers also being STEM careers.
Some of the app’s highlights include
- visits to a private observatory in the mountains of New Mexico,
- a video game development company in Texas,
- and a totally mechanized dairy farm where viewers will be surrounded by some very friendly Jersey cows.
