HoloTutor and the US DOE’s Principles for Responsible Use of AI
HoloTutor fully aligns with the U.S. Department of Education’s principles for responsible AI in education. It is educator-led, placing teachers at the center of the learning experience by enabling them to build custom AI tutors and lesson plans without coding, ensuring the AI supports rather than replaces human instruction. It fosters ethical use by encouraging students to interact critically with AI tutors through two-way conversations, helping them develop digital literacy, question AI outputs, and learn to use AI responsibly across platforms.
Accessibility is central to HoloTutor’s design. It supports multilingual instruction and is compatible with devices that accommodate users with disabilities, promoting equitable access. HoloTutor is also transparent and explainable: educators and administrators can see how lesson content is created and how AI decisions are guided by uploaded materials like textbooks, ensuring clarity for parents and schools.
Finally, HoloTutor is data-protective by design. It complies with FERPA, never storing or sharing identifiable student data without explicit consent. All user interactions are encrypted, and administrators can control data access and retention policies.
