Program Overview

Mel and Gerdy guide your students as they take a virtual “walk” through a museum gallery all about cells and their organelles. Students start with a short video about endosymbiosis that introduces them to theory of organelle evolution. Then, students have freedom to explore the museum at their leisure. Afterward, students take a ten – question quiz about what they’ve learned.

NGSS : Next Generation Science Standards

DISCIPLINARY CORE IDEA

LS1.A: STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION: Multicellular organisms have a hierarchical structural organization, in which any one system is made up of numerous parts and is itself a component of the next level.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATION

HS-LS1-2 FROM MOLECULES TO ORGANISMS: STRUCTURES AND PROCESSES: Develop and use a model to describe the function of a cell as a whole and ways parts of cells contribute to the function.
