VictoryXR: First Virtual Reality International High School Launches from Florida
- Plantation, Florida — Saying it was time to begin moving students back into class, American High School founder and CEO, Dana Williams, said her fully online school would be opening classes globally in virtual reality in a demonstration project with Qualcomm and curriculum developer, VictoryXR.
“We have been a global leader in online learning for more than a decade and the technology is finally letting us bring everyone together in the same classroom, even if it is a virtual reality classroom,” said Ms. Williams. “When I saw the movie, Ready Player One, it seemed far off. I had no idea we would be the ones making it a reality in our own campus metaverse.”
VictoryXR: Fisk University, HTC VIVE, T-Mobile and VictoryXR Launch 5G-Powered VR Human Cadaver Lab
Top ranked HBCU unveils one of the first virtual reality campuses in the nation bringing students the benefits of both virtual and in-person learning
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — August 3, 2021 — This fall students at Fisk University will attend in-person classes at one of the first virtual reality (VR) campuses in the nation. Fisk University, HTC VIVE, T-Mobile (NASDAQ: TMUS) and VictoryXR have teamed up to launch a first-of-its-kind interactive 5G-powered VR human cadaver lab for students in pre-med and biology-related majors.
Fisk University, located in Nashville, Tennessee, is one of the top ranked HBCUs in the country. This new model of learning combines the in-person classroom experience with 5G-powered VR technology, enabling students to explore the complete skeletal structure, muscle structure and the eleven human organ systems while still engaging in-person with their classmates and instructors.
“We’re combining the best aspects of virtual and in-person learning, and this is the future of education,” said Dr. Vann Newkirk, President, Fisk University. “Fisk University is emerging as a tech leader among colleges, and our effort to bring a virtual reality cadaver lab to campus exemplifies our commitment to provide students with a state-of-the-art education.”
VictoryXR: Morehouse College Launches Groundbreaking Classes in Virtual Reality
- Morehouse College, the alma mater of Martin Luther King Jr., Spike Lee, and Senator Raphael Warnock, will lead higher education into a new frontier this spring as students will be offered two classes held in virtual reality (VR).
- Just like a real campus, a VR campus allows students to attend class together in real-time, conduct science experiments, and dig for fossils. Unlike a real campus, students on the VR campus can expand a human heart and step inside it, jump into a time machine and visit wooly mammoths, or beam up to a starship and learn astronomy close up.
Forbes: Morehouse College Starts VR Classes With VictoryXR
- Morehouse College is teaching two class in VR using the Victory XR platform (based on Engage), with support from Qualcomm, which provided an Oculus Quest 2 to students. The Quest utilizes the Qualcomm’s XR2 chip set, as does every other mobile VR headset with the exception of Magic Leap (for now). Using this headset, remote students meet on a virtual Morehouse campus to attend their virtual classes.
